I am writing to you to introduce a new dentist who will be starting at Kilsyth Dental Clinic.

In October Dr Cara Epstein will be joining our team. I have known Dr Epstein for many years and we are thrilled to have her as part of the team and we look forward to introducing her to you all.

Dr Epstein grew up locally in the Dandenong Ranges. She qualified in dentistry in Queensland, achieving an academic medal and graduating at the top of her class. She is interested in general and preventive dentistry as well as paediatric dentistry, periodontics (treatment and prevention of gum disease), oral surgery and aesthetic dentistry. Dr Epstein is well respected by her peers and has recently been elected as a councillor of the Australian Dental Association.

I know through our recent clinical discussions and having seen Dr Epstein develop professionally over the years that we share a similar approach to our clinical work and patient care. She will continue our emphasis on preventive family dentistry and is committed to the wellbeing of her patients and will be a valued leader for our team.

Starting in late October I will be taking a brief sojourn from the practice for medical reasons until the end of 2018. I plan to return in 2019. As I step back to take a smaller role at the practice in the future years I look forward to seeing Dr Epstein develop the same rapport and interest in our patients that I have enjoyed over the years.

Best Wishes,

Keith Maginness

Last Thursday night, a car unexpectedly arrived at reception. Fortunately nobody was injured, including the driver. Our entry will be at the rear of the building until Reception is rebuilt.

All appointments continue as scheduled.

New Partner at Kilsyth Dental.

July 16, 2014

Those of you who have attended the clinic recently will have seen a new face around the place.
We are very happy to welcome Dr Imran Khan to Kilsyth Dental Clinic as a new principal partner.
Imran is from Canada. After completing a Science Degree in Canada he moved to Melbourne to undertake a Dental Science Degree from the University of Melbourne. He graduated in 2009 with Honours.  He has worked in Melbourne since then in general practice dentistry and looks forward to practicing in Kilsyth.
Imran enjoys all aspects of dental work and has a ‘putting the patient first’ approach to his work so always feel free to ask any questions. Along with general dentistry he has an interest in cosmetic dentistry, endodontics (root fillings) and prosthodontics (bridges, crowns etc).  Read more about him in the ‘About’ section.
Jim has decided to spend more time with his grandchildren so has cut back to two days a week. He will still be here, just not as often.
There were several people interested to buy into our practice. This meant we were able to choose someone who reflects how we work and shares our commitment to continuing to provide good quality dental treatment  with an emphasis on treating all ages and providing a range of services to suit each patient.
Whilst Imran and Jim are enjoying these new and exciting changes in their lives Keith and our dental assistants and receptionists are working as usual but also enjoying having new partner Imran and happy granddad Jim on board.
Welcome Imran.

Free dental care for children at Kilsyth Dental

December 31, 2013

Eligible children needing to see a dentist can now do so without any out-of-pocket charges at our clinic thanks to a new Medicare-funded dental scheme.
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) began on 1 January 2014 and will allow eligible children aged between two and 17 years access to basic dental services.
Under the scheme, families who receive Family Tax Benefit Part A will be eligible for $1000 worth of Medicare-funded treatment over a two-year period. About 3.4 million Australian children between the ages of two and 17 are expected to benefit.
Basic dental services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions will be bulk billed.
You will be advised by Medicare directly by letter if your child is eligible for the CDBS.  If you do not receive a letter, please call Medicare directly on 132 150 to find out more.

NOV 2013

Linda travelled to Ethiopia to assist in the setting up of a new dental volunteer program. She accompanied Dr. Jamie Robertson in a program sponsored by Rotary. Linda’s trip involved surveying the current dental health of children and assessing the facilities for a school-based dental program similar to the successful Rotary Australia-Vietnam Dental Health Project.
